Neatly done and not-too-sweet pastries in North Beach! I've tried: - tiramisu: a must at an Italian bakery, of course. A hefty square of heaven. - sacripantina: almost like tiramisu without the espresso? A blessing for the days when I feel like I can't take the caffeine (unfortunately I am that sensitive) - apricot tart: juicy apricots coated with a lightly sweet glaze, tucked into a buttery shell - strawberry cake: such fresh whipped cream and strawberries; cake is light and fluffy - cheesecake: nice and creamy! Really can't go wrong here with the sweets; I would just say the interior isn't very cozy to sit and enjoy your treat (but at least there are always open tables).

Great place to get some dessert right after dinner. People were friendly and service was great considering how many people were in line. There are not too many places to sit inside, but we were able to get a small table. But definitely recommend to anyone to try if they're in the area.

Stella Pastry & Cafe was one of the few dessert spots open later in North Beach and was delicious! When I went, my boyfriend and I decided to get some butter cookies with raspberry and strawberry jam, filling, as well as a slice of their tiramisu cake. Out of the two, my favorite was definitely the butter cookies with raspberry and strawberry jam since the cookie itself was incredibly buttery and moist and the jam was just the right amount of sweet to tart ratio. The tiramisu cake on the other hand, while delicious and juicy was coated with a thick layer of cocoa powder, which left a dry and slightly bitter after taste in my mouth and made me cough a tad.

This is a super cute cafe within north beach with the best desserts and cakes. The tiramisu was amazing and light and the cream puff was so fluffy.

Bought a slice of Tiramisu and a slice of Sacripantina. They were technically closed at 7, but it seems like they were flexible about hours as they still had a full house of people enjoying various pastries. Great sign when the establishment isn't a snob about hours! The tiramisu was pretty light and fluffy however I would not consider it the best Tiramisu that I've had. Zabaglione needed more body and there was too much liquor added. Could have just been an off night. The Sacripantina was something I had never had before and tasted pretty much like a vanilla creme cake. Very tasty although a tad too sweet for me personally.

"Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli" Stella Pastry & Cafe has been a beloved North Beach institution since its founding in 1945. Originally owned by Pietro and Claudina "Stella" Zanello, the bakery has passed through the hands of a few generations of Italian women. Today, it's still owned and operated by the Santucci family, who have maintained the tradition of crafting delicious pastries and treats with authentic Italian recipes. I "discovered" Stella Pastry & Café within the first few weeks of moving to North Beach more than twenty years ago and fell in love with their biscotti, which come in various flavors. I made a habit of stopping there with a book and reading it while sipping on their coffee and munching a couple of their tasty biscottis. Later on, I ventured into the rest of their menu and enjoyed their delicious Tiramisu, cheesecake, and cannoli. Stella Pastry & Cafe is well known for its iconic Sacripantina, a rum-laced sponge cake. The café continues to be a local favorite and is also popular with North Beach visitors. If you are visiting North Beach, don't miss Stella Pastry & Café. It is right there in the heart of North Beach. Stop by and try one of the above-mentioned pastries or your favorite. The staff is very friendly, and the place is small but comfortable. They also have a couple of small tables outside. p.s. We stumbled upon this place and got drawn in by the beautiful display. We were immediately greeted by friendly staff. They are warm and helpful. We got some cookies by weight. We have Chocolate butter cookie, apricot tumprint, French double jam, palmier, chocolate chip cookie, vanilla kisses and chocolate kisses. All together was $7.35. The cookies are buttery delicious and each has its own character! We wanna try the cake but don't want it to melt in the sun so we'll come back for those! Can't wait for my next visit!

I got a slice of Sacripantina ($7). This is a sponge cake soaked with liquor and filled with cream. The cake was very light and the cream made each bite fluffy but also moist. Maybe I couldn't tell the depths of all the flavors, but it tasted like a vanilla cake with some light custard cream. Love the texture but I guess I was expecting a stronger, more distinct flavor like tiramisu typically gives! They have a wide variety of desserts! I wish I had more stomach room to try them all! Next time, I'll be back to try the tiramisu.

I love tiramisu so surprise surprise, I got tiramisu here. But what's a tiramisu without a cappuccino to round it out? Oh, yeah why not let's just get a cannoli too while we're at it. But hey, between my girlfriend and I, this was plenty of dessert. The cannoli was aight, good but not amazing, I'd focus on other desserts. The tiramisu though? Heavenly. Each bite was fluffier than the next and the cocoa powder on top irritated my bronchioles cause I inhaled the tiramisu too much. Worth it. But seriously, the flavor in these tiramisus are absolutely amazing, you're missing out if you haven't tried even just one slice. Cappuccino was so refreshing to go along with and wash down the tiramisu. Even as an evening drink it kept me going through the night and I food coma'd with no problems. While Stella's is a small space, the selection is huge, and the tiramisu? Disproportionally amazing.
